Once a community-rated medical renewal is set up, you can change any of its plans right where you're reviewing them. A menu on every community-rated plan group, and on every plan inside it, opens a light plan picker over the medical Quotes grid. Swap the current plans, override a renewal plan, reshape an alternative, copy it, delete it, or switch an option off, all priced from the census as you go, and all without leaving the grid. The same picker opens from Market Response when you create a new community-rated quote.
Where to find it
- On the plan group header (the Current Plan, Renewal Plan, or alternative bar over the columns): the ⋮ menu, Plan group actions.
- In the Plan Groups panel, opened from the Plan Groups icon in the grid's left sidebar: the Edit button on each community-rated plan group.
- On each plan column: the ⋮ menu for that option, with Change this plan.
- On Market Response: click any row with a green CR badge. The picker opens, and when you save, Market Response refreshes in place.
- Creating a quote: in Create New Quote, answer Yes to Medical Community Rated and the new plan group opens straight in the picker.
What the menus offer
- Change current plans: pick the employer's current plans from the Community Rated Plan Library.
- Change renewal plans: choose a different renewal plan for any option.
- Change these plans: change the plans on an alternative plan group.
- Match to the Community Rated Plan Library: shown on a current plan group that isn't community rated yet, for example plans brought in from BenefitPoint. Choosing matching plans turns them into real community-rated plans.
- Copy this plan group: a new plan group with the same plans, on alternatives.
- Delete this plan group: removes an alternative and the plans on it, after you confirm.
- Disable Plan Option, on a single plan's menu: hides that option from the grid and the presentation. It is offered when the plan group has more than one option.
Changing plans
- Open the menu and choose the change you want. The picker opens titled for the plan group, for example Current Community Rated Plans or Renewal Community Rated Plans. Opened from a single plan, it shows every option and highlights the one you clicked.
- Narrow the list with Carrier, Network, and Deductible (each takes several values) and choose a plan in Plan. On a renewal or alternative, the Plan list shows each plan's percentage change from current, so you can see how competitive it is before you pick it.
- Adjust anything else the group needs: drag options to reorder them, set the Rate basis, switch an option's Enabled setting, or edit the Plan group name on an alternative.
- Click Save & Close. The grid redraws with the new plans. Cancel closes without writing anything.
Good to know
- Current plans are the employer's. Saving current plans updates the employer profile too (Current plans saved and synced to the employer profile), and the renewal options move with them, because Plansight renews each current plan to its plan for the new year through its own rating engine. Saving a renewal or an alternative changes only that plan group and never touches the employer profile.
- The right plan year, automatically. Current plans are picked from the current plan year. Renewal and alternatives are picked from the renewal year's plans, in the group's own rating area.
- The money matches the grid. Each tile shows that option's monthly premium for the people enrolled on it, and on a renewal or alternative, the change from current. Plan group total adds the options up and compares like with like. An option nobody is enrolled on shows a "whole census" price and is left out of the total.
- Copies are alternatives. A copy arrives named "<plan group> copy" and opens in the picker so you can rename it and change an option. Copy is not offered on the Current Plan, which holds last year's plans on last year's rates, or on the Renewal Plan. To build an alternative from the renewal's plans, create a new community-rated quote and pick them.
- A plan group always has a name. The picker won't save an alternative with the name box empty.
- Delete is for alternatives only. The Current Plan and Renewal Plan stay put.
- Turning a disabled option back on happens in the picker: open the plan group's menu and flip that option's Enabled switch. The grid can't show a menu on an option it has hidden.
- New quotes don't leave empties behind. If you create a community-rated quote and close the picker without saving, the empty plan group is removed.
- Rate basis is Age Banded or Composite. New York and Vermont sell community-rated plans on a composite basis only, so the picker states it there.
- Effective date changes happen on the Community Rated step of the RFP Builder. Moving it into another quarter re-runs the rates.
- No plan documents to add. Community rated plans come with their benefit summaries from the carrier filing, so Market Response doesn't offer Add Plan Document on them.
- Market Response colors. The CR badge is green. A Current or Renewal row turns green once it has rates and stays gray until it does.
- If a save says your session expired, the page sat open across a sign-in change. Refresh and save again; nothing you had saved before is lost.
- "No community rated plans found" names the state, year, quarter, and rating area Plansight looked for. If that looks wrong, check the effective date and address on the Community Rated step, or contact support.
- Clicking a plan group's name still opens the full quote editor. The menus are the quick way to change community rated plans.
Setting up the renewal in the first place is covered in How do I set up a community rated medical renewal in the RFP Builder? Once your plan groups are where you want them, Employee Worksheets turns a community-rated package into a personal cost sheet for every employee.
