Every new RFP starts on an Attribute Template, and every new presentation starts on a Presentation Template. You can set those two defaults on a region, on an office, or on a single employer, so an office with its own look, or a client with its own layout, gets the right templates on every new RFP and presentation without anyone re-picking them. Plansight uses the most specific default that's set: the employer's own, then its office's, then its region's, then your brokerage default.

Where to find it

  • Regions and offices: Admin > Regions / Offices. Broker admins only.
  • One employer: the employer page, the pencil on the About This Employer panel. Broker admins only.
  • Your brokerage default stays where it is: Set as Default Template on Templates > Presentation, and Default Plan Attributes on Templates > Plan Attributes.

Set defaults on a region

  1. Go to Admin > Regions / Offices and open the region.
  2. Click Edit Region.
  3. Pick a Default Attribute Template and a Default Presentation Template.
  4. Click Save.

Set defaults on an office

  1. Open the office's region. In the Offices table, choose Edit Office from the office's menu.
  2. Click Edit Office.
  3. Pick a Default Attribute Template and a Default Presentation Template. Leave either on its first option to inherit from the region.
  4. Click Save.

Set defaults on one employer

  1. Open the employer and click the pencil on About This Employer.
  2. In Edit - About This Employer, pick a Default Attribute Template and a Default Presentation Template.
  3. Click Save.

Good to know

  • The order is employer, office, region, brokerage. The first one that's set wins. Leave a level empty, and it passes through to the next one up.
  • The first option tells you what you'll inherit. It reads like Use office default (template name), Use region default (template name), or Use brokerage default (template name).
  • It's the employer's office that counts, the Office set on the employer, not the offices of whoever is building the RFP. Everyone working that client gets the same result. An employer with no office goes straight from its own default to the brokerage default.
  • New work only. Defaults apply when an RFP or presentation is created. Existing RFPs and presentations never change, and changing a default later doesn't touch work in flight.
  • You can always change it. In the RFP Wizard, the Plan Design Attributes Template on the Basics step opens already set to the default. Pick another template, or the brokerage default, and that choice sticks. The same goes for the Presentation Theme on any presentation.
  • Where the defaults show up: RFPs built in the RFP Wizard, RFPs the Renewal Builder creates, the presentation created automatically with a new RFP, and the Presentation Theme on Add Presentation.
  • Template settings come along. A presentation that starts on a template picks up that template's Home tab settings, including Show Section Header Pages. See How do I remove section header pages from my presentations?
  • Everyone can see what applies. The About This Employer panel shows Default Attribute Template and Default Presentation Template for every broker, with where each comes from, for example "(office default)". Only broker admins can change them.
  • Reading the Regions / Offices list. A teal dot means the template is set on that region or office rather than inherited. Hover over an office name to see both of its templates and where each one comes from.
  • Deleted templates are skipped. Before you delete a template that's someone's default, Plansight tells you which regions, offices, and how many employers use it. After it's gone, new work there starts on the next default up.
  • Offices in use can't be deleted. If an office still has employers or users, Plansight tells you how many and what to move first.

Set the templates once at the level that fits, and every new RFP and presentation starts in the right place.
