Easy Renewal is a one-click shortcut that carries your existing in-force plans forward into the next plan year without starting a full RFP from scratch. When a client is renewing with the same carrier and same plan designs, this is the fastest way to move them forward.

How It Works

From the employer profile, you'll see the current in-force plans listed with their effective and renewal dates. When it's time to roll those plans forward, the Easy Renewal option lets you create a new plan year directly from what's already there — no RFP wizard, no distribution list, no carrier outreach required.

Plansight copies the existing plan designs, updates the effective and renewal dates to the next cycle, and places the plans into a pending renewal state. From there, you can update rates, adjust contributions, and confirm the details before marking them in force.

When to Use Easy Renewal

Easy Renewal is the right choice when:

  • The employer is staying with the same carrier and plan designs
  • You don't need to go to market for alternatives
  • The renewal is straightforward and rate-driven, not a full rebid

If you need to shop alternatives, compare new carriers, or build a presentation for the client, start a standard RFP instead. Easy Renewal is specifically for situations where the decision is already made and you're moving the same plans forward.

Updating Rates and Contributions

Once the plans are carried forward, open each plan to enter the renewal rates. Rate fields that were locked to the prior year become editable so you can key in the new carrier-provided figures.

Contribution modeling works the same way it does anywhere else in the platform — adjust employer and employee contributions, apply them across tiers, and the cost totals update automatically.

Marking Plans In Force

After rates and contributions are confirmed, mark the renewed plans as in force. This sets the new effective date, moves the prior plans into history, and resets the employer profile for the next renewal cycle.

The prior plan year stays accessible in the plan history table — nothing is deleted.

Common Questions

  • Can I edit the plan design during Easy Renewal? Yes — once the plans are carried forward, you can open any plan card and update benefit details before marking them in force.
  • What happens to the old plans after I complete Easy Renewal? They roll into the plan history table on the employer profile. They remain visible but are no longer listed as current.
  • Can I still build a presentation after using Easy Renewal? Easy Renewal doesn't generate a presentation automatically. If you need a client-facing deliverable, start a standard RFP so the full presentation workflow is available.
  • What if the carrier changed the plan design at renewal? Update the relevant plan attributes directly in the plan editor after carrying the plans forward. Easy Renewal copies the prior design as a starting point — you're not locked into it.
  • Is Easy Renewal available for all benefit types? It applies to any in-force plans on the employer profile, including medical, dental, vision, and ancillary lines.
