In the Benefit Builder, every alternate package column has a Build bundle button. Click it and Plansight fills the whole package for you: either the lowest-cost plan group on every line from any carrier, or every line a single carrier quoted, using that carrier's lowest-cost plan group on each. The menu also shows what consolidating with one carrier costs against cherry-picking, so the one-bill conversation with your client starts with a real number. You review the package, swap any line you like, and save.
Where to find it
Open the group and RFP, then click Benefit Builder in the RFP tabs. It is also on the Benefit Builder tab inside a presentation. The purple Build bundle button sits in the header of each alternate package column (Alternate 1, and any you add with Add Alternate Package), next to Elect This Benefit Package when that button is showing.
Build the most competitive package
- In the left column, make sure the benefit lines you want in the package are switched on.
- Click Build bundle on the package you want to fill.
- Under Most competitive, click Lowest total cost. The row shows the package's annual total and how many lines it fills (for example, "8 of 8").
- Plansight puts the lowest total annual cost plan group in every line, whatever the carrier. Annual costs, the employer and employee split, and the $ From Current differences recalculate right away.
- Click Save Benefit Builder to keep it.
Build a same-carrier package
- Click Build bundle on the package you want to fill.
- Under Same carrier, each carrier that quoted two or more of your lines is listed with its annual total and the lines it covers. A carrier tagged All covers every line that is switched on; others show how many they cover, such as 3 of 8.
- For carriers that cover every line, the row tells you what one carrier costs: +$291/yr to consolidate means the single-carrier package costs $291 a year more than the most competitive mix. cheapest on every line means that carrier wins outright.
- Click a carrier. Plansight fills each line that carrier quoted with its lowest-cost plan group and leaves the lines it did not quote exactly as they were.
- Click Save Benefit Builder.
Good to know
- Medical stays in your hands. Build bundle fills dental, vision, life, disability, worksite and the other single-row lines. The medical line, with its admin, pharmacy, stop loss and claims rows, is never changed by a bundle. Pick medical with the line's own selector.
- "Lowest cost" means total annual cost, the same Annual Cost figure shown in the package. It is not the employer share or the employee share.
- Priced plans win. A plan group showing $0 has not been rated yet, so it is only used when nothing on that line has a price.
- The renewal competes. If the renewal is the lowest-cost option on a line, Build bundle picks it. The current plan is shown in the Current column for comparison and is not offered as a choice in a package, because a package starts on the effective date, when the current plan ends. That applies to the line-by-line selector as well.
- Only lines that are switched on count. A line switched off in the left column, or a line with no quoted plan groups, is left out, and the "of" counts reflect that.
- Carriers are ordered by coverage first, then price, so the carriers that can put the most lines on one bill are at the top.
- It works on alternate packages. The Renewal column does not have the button. Choose Copy from the Renewal column's menu, or click Add Alternate Package, and the new column has one.
- Nothing is elected or saved for you. Build bundle only fills the column. Swap any single line afterward with that line's selector; the rest of the package stays put. Click Save Benefit Builder to keep the package, and Elect This Benefit Package when the client decides.
- Run it again any time. If new quotes come in, open Build bundle again and the menu reflects what is quoted now.
- Tip: put a most competitive package next to a same-carrier package. Rename each column so your client sees "Lowest cost" beside "One carrier" and the price of consolidating in one glance.
One click gets you a complete, defensible package to start from, so your time goes into the recommendation instead of the picking.
