The Push Dialogue
Learn how the push dialog in Plansight works, including required fields, origination reason, and how plans are prepared before being sent to BenefitPoint.

When the push dialog opens, you’ll see:

  • Origination reason options: New, Renewal, or Replacement
  • Additional selections based on what you choose
  • A preview of what data will be created, copied, or updated in BenefitPoint. Think of this screen as Plansight saying, “Here’s what I’m about to do — confirm this looks right.”

New Plans

Use New when:

  • This is brand-new coverage
  • There is no existing version of this plan in BenefitPoint

What You’ll Need to Do

  • Choose the plan type for how the plan should live in BenefitPoint
  • Confirm the carrier and Paid-By details

What Gets Sent

  • Benefit summary and rates
  • Issuing and Paid By Carrier Settings
  • Broker of Record Date is added as the effective date of the plan
  • Broker of Record Date is added as the effective date of the plan
  • Policy Number (Can be left blank or sent as "TBD")
  • Original Plan Effective Date is added as the effective date of the plan
  • Commission Start Date is added as the effective date of the plan
  • New Business Until Date
  • Estimated Annual Premium (Optional)

Renewals

Use Renewal when:

  • You’re continuing an existing plan into a new plan year. You’ll be asked to select the prior (parent) plan in BenefitPoint so the system knows what this plan is renewing.
  • Note: Some brokerages use the renewal feature even when the carrier changes.

What Copies Automatically on a Renewal from the prior plan?

  • Plan Design (Benefit Summary)
  • Carrier Data (this is optional for renewal)
  • Plan Rates, and lives
  • Broker of Record Dated
  • Policy Number (Optional)
  • Original Plan Effective Date
  • Commission Start Dates
  • New Business Until Date
  • Splits & Commissions
  • Commissions
  • Eligibility Rules
  • Contribution schedules
  • Estimated Annual Premium (Optional)

Replacements

Use Replacement when:

  • You’re continuing the same line of coverage
  • But replacing an existing plan with a new one from a different carrier, you’ll select which existing plan is being replaced from a pick list.

How Replacement Behaves

Replacement is similar to renewal in that it:

  • Copies key administrative settings
  • Maintains continuity in BenefitPoint. But it expects change:
    • New carrier
    • Potentially new Paid By setup
    • Updated benefits and rates

This is why many brokerages prefer Replacement when moving between carriers.

After You Send the Plan(s)

Once the push completes:

  • The plan is created or updated in BenefitPoint based on your selections. Prior plans will be renewed or replaced.
  • You can finish items like final policy numbers or carrier confirmations there
  • No need to re-enter benefit details unless something changes
